From my hot tub on the deck of my home in Gibsons I can sit and enjoy watching Vancouver Island, Georgia Strait, Keats Island, Bowen Island and Howe Sound. I can even see the lights of cars on the Squamish Highway and Britannia Beach. One cold February night as I sat steeping in the hot water, letting the day's problems leave my head, the sea fog rolled in. The full moon rising over Keats Island illuminated the sea fog and the entire scene took on a fairly tale appearance. I had gazed on that composition for years but only then did I see the painting. As a matter of interest, I have taken this image back to Ontario and found only a cool reception to it. People in that part of the country don't know of rolling sea fogs on cold west coast nights. It is truly a west coast event that one has to see to believe.
